Juventus try to see off interest in midfield stars

Paolo Bruno

Despite interest from big clubs around the world, Paul Pogba and Arturo Vidal are not for sale, says Juventus general manager Beppe Marotta:

We have clear ideas and we are a winning side, with our coach who leads the way. For this reason, I can exclude us the possibility of us selling any of our stars too. Real Madrid have shown their appreciation of Vidal, but no more than that. For Pogba, I hope we can sit down in the coming weeks to renew his contract.

If you are a Chelsea fan who wants us to sign one of the two -- i.e. you are a Chelsea fan -- you could take this as bad news but I would suggest giving into cruel, cruel hope and noting with interest that Paul Pogba is pushing for a new contract. Because if Pogba wants a new deal and Chelsea put a ridiculous offer in for the midfielder, well, contract negotiations will get a bit harder and then Juventus might be more amenable to getting crazy money for him while they can.

Do it, Chelsea. Kidnap the guy if you have to. I don't care if Juve aren't a selling club. DO IT.
