Liverpool vs. Chelsea: Second Half Thread

Clive Brunskill

Well, we're hanging in there.  In fact, mostly doing a good job containing and slowing down Liverpool.

We've even had a few decent counters, and should've had a 3-v-1 (or 3-v-2) had Demba Ba made a better pass out towards André Schürrle.

But the big one, the BIG ONE, was the missed handball on Jon Flanagan in the penalty area.  As Lee Dixon in the NBC booth said, truly intentional handballs are rare.  But arm out, unnatural position, blocks the shot - penalty all day.

And then, just as I was almost done writing this, Tomas Kalas missed an open header on a corner.  From the resulting goal kick, Steven Gerrard ended up slipping and gifting Demba Ba a chance.  A man in form, with all the confidence from his winners against PSG and Swansea, made no mistake.

So, 1-0 to Chelsea.  The plan is working.  Amazingly.
