Petr Cech leaves Atletico match with injury

Christopher Lee

We've already had our big goalkeeping moment in Chelsea vs. Atletico Madrid and unfortunately it's very bad news for the Blues. Petr Cech is out of the game with what looks like a serious elbow injury after colliding with Raul Garcia on a corner kick. The keeper immediately signalled for a substitution and after several minutes of treatment Mark Schwarzer -- who deputised this weekend -- is now on the pitch.

It's horribly ironic that this took place with Thibaut Courtois on the pitch for Atletico -- this was supposed to be a showdown between Chelsea old and Chelsea new. Instead, Cech is hurt, and we're going to have to wait and see just how bad it is. The landing didn't look good at all, but we obviously won't have any sort of prognosis until the requisite scans are completed.

Urgh.
