Unfortunate news on the Hazard injury front

Julian Finney

I -- along with pretty much every Chelsea fan in the world -- been hoping that Eden Hazard would be available before we got to the big bad block of games which will end up deciding our season for us. He's our most dangerous attacking player, and having him around to face first Atletico Madrid and then Liverpool would have been a major boost.

Unfortunately, it sounds as though Steve Holland has described his chances of being fit for the first leg of the Champions League semifinal as 'a major doubt':

I wouldn't say he is definitely out at this stage but the fact he hasn't yet trained with the rest of the group suggests he is a major doubt.

That obviously rules him out from tomorrow's match against Sunderland (no pushovers, as their display at the Etihad in midweek amply demonstrates) as well, but the key now will be to get him fit to face Liverpool in what, if the rest of the team does their bit this weekend, could prove to be the title race's most important match.

Get well soon, Eden!
