The Fernando Torres to Inter Milan rumours haven't died away entirely, and Italian journalists are still asking Inter president Erick Thohir about the prospect of the Chelsea man (along with a few other biggish-name centre forwards) joining the team this summer. And while he doesn't shoot the idea down entirely, there's at least a little cold water in the response:
Maybe one of [Edin Dzeko, Fernando Torres and Alvaro Morata] will come, but only if they fit my three basic parameters: technical, economic and marketing.
-Source: Inside Futbol.
Torres, who might have the best PR of any footballer in the world, obviously ticks the marketing box. And considering Inter have a pre-agreement with the over-the-hill Nemanja Vidic, one might argue that their technical parameter has an easily cleared bar as well. And so it comes to economics, which... well, yeah, that was always going to be a problem.
Essentially the question is whether or not Torres wants out at Chelsea and, if so, how much money he's willing to give up to do so. And nobody really knows the answer to that one right now.
