Salomon Kalou wasn't the most popular of characters while at Stamford Bridge, for reasons I've never fully understood. He wasn't a great player, to be sure, but nobody ever asked him to be one either, and it's not like he never contributed to the team either. But far be it from me to tell Chelsea supporters who to like -- either way he'll go up in everyone's collective estimations after this:
Salomon Kalou has confirmed to @lequipe that he could have moved to Arsenal on a loan deal in January but chose not to. #AFC #LOSC

Arsene Wenger has always admired Kalou, and with the Ivorian scoring double digit goals in Ligue 1 this season it's not a big surprise that Arsenal were looking to recruit him as depth. Make no mistake: he would have helped that team, and I've very glad he chose not to. And with Kalou turning the Gunners down, they didn't bring in anyone else to help their title push either. Nice one, Salo.
