Singled out Mourinho vows to fight £10,000 fine for improper conduct

While Jose Mourinho escaped any punishment for his most obvious disagreement over how Chris Foy officiated last weekend's match against Aston Villa, he still managed to spur the FA's bunch of twopences into action and got himself a lovely "improper conduct" charge for "re-entering the field of play" and "approaching the Match Referee."

The punishment for this offense looks to be nothing more than a £10,000 fine - unlikely to cause even a murmur in the finances of the highest paid manager in the world - but Mourinho has vowed to fight it out of principle. After all, he was not the only manager or bench player to enter the field of play, yet he is the only one charged while others like Paul Lambert or Steve Holland or Gabby Agbonlahor walk free.

"You see the charges and you see that I'm different to everyone else in the eyes of people. That's obvious."

"Yes, it annoys me. Of course I am treated differently. I don't know why. I keep saying that nobody defends English football as much as as I did during the five years I was working in Italy and Spain. You know me. I say what I think and what I feel. I didn't say that [about Engish football] because I was expecting to come back one day and wanted nice treatment when I did."

The FA has given Mourinho until 6pm on Monday to respond, which the Chelsea manager intends to get to after spoiling Arsène Wenger's 1000th match celebration.
