In the period starting with the 4-3 away to Sunderland and ending with the hat-trick in the 3-1 against Newcastle United, Hazard won eight man of the match awards in just fourteen starts. In the next seven matches, all starts, he won zero. But the streak is broken and Hazard is back, beybee!
In fairness, it was really only the next four after Newcastle where his form took a bit of a dip. In three of the last four matches, he's been rated an 8.0 or higher. He now has ten man of the match awards for the season and twenty-two top three spots overall. Basically, Eden Hazard is awesome, is ours, and you can't have him.
This was truly an all-around dominating performance, as he lead the team in touches, passes (and second in passing percentage to underrated Frank Lampard), take-ons, fouls won, and even took two shots. At play in the Garden of Eden, indeed.

If I were more talented, more patient, or more motivated, I'd find or create a GIF of that one play where Azpilicueta held off Didier Drogba, turned, and cleared the ball with his weaker foot. Because that about summed up his beastly day.
The only thing that did not go well for him were all the long balls he tried to launch over the top, which in large part contributed to him having the worst Chelsea passing percentage on the day. Whether that was due to our personnel (no Schürrle, no Torres, only Hazard to run onto those), strategy, or Dave not being dialed-in would require further review.
The 8.5 is Azpilicueta's highest rating of the season. Well deserved.

And here is Gary Cahill in third spot once again. And here is Gary Cahill being solid once again. And here is Gary Cahill proving his doubters wrong once again. And here's Gary Cahill (& John Terry) keeping a clean sheet once again. And here is Gary Cahill smashing home a goal from a corner. Once again.
And here's Frank Lampard (or perhaps Branislav Ivanovic) missing out on a podium finish. Respect your elders, people!
