The Daily Hilario: Chelsea U19 resume their UEFA Youth League campaign

New, comments

Your daily dose of off-topic shenanigans. Now with added UEFA Youth League action!

Robert Cianflone

I was a bit bored earlier this Monday evening and decided to watch some FA Cup on-demand action with Sheffield Wednesday and Charlton Athletic. While I had been hoping for a Sam Hutchinson appearance (spoiler alert: didn't happen), instead I got treated to...well, a largely crap game. It was a nice reminder that even when Chelsea aren't firing on all cylinders, they're still streets ahead of whatever those two sides produced. Yikes.

Though, in fairness, it did get a bit exciting towards the end as Wednesday tried to salvage a draw but instead contrived to miss chances in ever more hilarious ways. Joe Mattock played left back for the home side. Remember when he was supposed to amount to something wonderful?

Speaking of young players, don't forget about the Chelsea boys taking on AC Milan at Cobham in the first knockout round of the UEFA Youth League. Unlike the seniors, this is single elimination, with a penalty shootout to decide things if we're level after 90 minutes. Live TV coverage will only be on Eurosport (15:00 GMT), while Chelsea TV will show a replay at 23:00 GMT.

I bet they were never last in the buffet line. But seriously, this is ridiculous. And scary. Please don't hurt me, Jadeveon, or however you spell your name.

Barca pay the taxes they owed on Neymar. Obviously they are thus not guilty.

In a perfect world, we'd get to keep sports completely separate from politics, religion, etc. Alas, we do not live in a perfect world. Apparently the owner of Metalist Kharkiv has fled the country, and seeing as how the players have already gone something like 3 months without getting paid, that development is not going to help at all. Now, the manager has resigned and has basically said that all players' release clauses have been activated. He claims that the team will finish the season (how; who knows...). Meanwhile, our ol' pal Frank Arnesen just joined Metalist as DoF at the end of January. Whoopsies.
