Mourinho makes the Arsenal fetishists whine once again

Mike Hewitt

When Arsene Wenger decided to comment on Jose Mourinho's continual playing down of Chelsea's title hopes, he had to know that something bad would happen to him. You don't go around accusing Mourinho of being afraid to fail and expect to get away with it, and a man whose found success hard to come by in recent years should probably not have set himself like that. But he did, and so he drew an amusing response.

[Wenger] is a specialist in failure. I'm not. So if he is right and I am afraid of failure it is because I didn't fail many times. The reality is he's a specialist because eight years without a piece of silverware, that's failure. If I do that in Chelsea, eight years, I leave and don't come back.

Which is both mean and true, the best sort of combination to hurt feelings with. It's pretty expert trolling from Mourinho, but Wenger set the trap himself, so he can't complain about getting a response. That's not going to stop Britain's various moral guardians from whining, though:

Waaaaaah.
