On any given Saturday, there's a decent chance that somewhere, in some league, there's a Hazard lighting up the scoresheet. Usually, it's Eden doing the business for Chelsea, but on this weekend he was busy hitting posts and shanking shots after excellent direct runs. Fortunately for the Hazard family name, up stepped Mk.II with a goal and assist for Borussia Mönchengladbach. Thorgan Hazard's loan hasn't been a wholly unqualified success up to this point, but at least his minutes seem to be trending the right way.
First came the assist, less than ten minutes into the match vs. Hertha Berlin. Impressive diving header at the end from center back Tony Jantschke for his first goal of the season, too.
Then, with less than ten minutes remaining, Thorgan Hazard sealed the deal for Gladbach with a bit of light comedy.
Ex-Chelsea hero Salomon Kalou scored a late-late consolation for the visitors but it wasn't enough and Gladbach ran out 3-2 winners. It was their first win in four, which followed a ten-match unbeaten streak to start the league season. Football, bloody hell.
Thorgan's been a bit of a super sub for the Europa League and Bundesliga contenders, but manager Lucien Farve saw fit to change things up after three successive defeats and the 21-year-old made his decision look like a touch of genius. Hopefully this will lead to even more minutes.
