AC Milan now hoping to send Fernando Torres back to Atletico

New, comments

AC Milan took Torres on a two-year loan with much fanfare. Four months later, they might already be looking to get rid of him. In whatever way they can.

Fernando Torres, the gift that refuses to stop keeping on giving.  As long as you're not the team currently on hook for most, if not all of his wages.  In that case, he's just the gift you can't wait to regift at your earliest opportunity.

(On a sidenote, while Internazionale have even greater problems than having to figure out how to deal with just one useless, overpaid striker, I'm sure their fans took some pleasure in Mourinho gifting said useless, overpaid striker to their crosstown rivals this summer.)

Milan have opened negotiations with Atlético Madrid as they seek to dispense with the services of Fernando Torres, who is currently on a two-year loan from Chelsea, and are hoping to secure Alessio Cerci in exchange.

It would appear that AC Milan are working their way back through Torres's career, hoping that one of his past employers takes the bait.  Chelsea presumably laughed in their faces, while Liverpool may have had a moment of sanity as well, just a few days after the Mail claimed that the Reds were considering an offer.

So it's onto Atlético Madrid, though it's a mystery as to why they'd want Torres to come anywhere near Mario Mandžukić at the moment.  These things can be quite contagious sometimes, you know...
