Chelsea loanee Gael Kakuta going from strength to strength at Rayo Vallecano

It's been quite a season so far for ex-wonderkid Gaël Kakuta, and not just because of his glorious mustache or because his impostor has been found, convicted, and jailed.

Loaned out to La Liga mid-table also-rans Rayo Vallecano for the final year of his Chelsea contract -- the seventh different side the 23-year-old has called home since signing with Chelsea under controversial circumstances in 2009 -- Kakuta has quickly become the Madrid side's most indispensable player, starting all 13 matches so far and often providing the most telling contribution.

His latest goal, his third on the season, proved a late winner as Rayo beat Almeria 1-0 to jump up to 10th place in the Spanish first division.

It's probably way too naive to even suggest that Kakuta has any sort of Chelsea future left, but after floundering for several years and failing to live up to his once immense promise, it would appear that he has a good future in the game after all, probably in some mid-table team in some top-level division.
