There are three options I can think of.  One, Matt Law has inside information from someone around Chelsea or Hazard or Hazard's agent (does he even have one?) or ... well, you get the idea.  Two, Matt Law has friends who are Chelsea fans and he's just trying to make them happy because it is the giving season, after all.  Three, Matt Law is the Grinch and he's just playing with our emotions.

Either way, here's Matt Law of the Telegraph with the "news," which builds on Jose Mourinho's call last week to not worry about a thing because it'll happen soon.

Eden Hazard is poised to give Chelsea the best possible Christmas present by agreeing the final details of his new contract. A new £200,000-a-week five-year contract has been on the table for three months and talks have been stepped up this week over signing off the small print.

The new and nicely round weekly wages would make Hazard the highest paid Chelsea player.  He's currently on par with Diego Costa at about £185k/week.

Hard to believe, but Hazard has been at Stamford Bridge for two and a half years now, which puts him exactly at the halfway point of his original five-year deal.  No time like the present to get this extension done then!
