Loftus-Cheek wanted his debut to last longer, excited for more opportunities

The big story after Chelsea's Champions League match on Wednesday was definitely the debut of Ruben Loftus-Cheek. The 18-year old only made a short cameo after the game was already won, but became the latest in a very impressive stable of young talent to get an opportunity with the first team.

Loftus-Cheek was thrilled afterwards, and had the following to say after leaving the pitch:

"I wanted it to last longer. It was a bit weird when I came on, a bit surreal, it took a while to sink in."

"Just to come on is all I can ask for. To play at a full Stamford Bridge is amazing. When you come on and you start playing it all just goes away, you're just focused."

"After that I just want to keep working harder - to get more opportunities like that would be wicked."

Hopefully there are far more opportunities for Loftus-Cheek in the future, as he's one of the most promising players that the Chelsea academy has produced in a very long time. Keep up the good work, and hopefully we'll see you wearing a lower number in the near future.
