Chelsea are now officially through as group winners, meaning they'll be facing one of five possible runners up. The Blues will discover their fate Monday morning, when the draw for the first knockout stage is made.
Manchester City and Arsenal aren't possible draws because they also play in the Premier League, and Schalke isn't an option as they were a group stage opponent. Jose Mourinho isn't overly concerned with who Chelsea draw, as he doesn't see any opponent that he'd prefer to draw or avoid in the first knock-out stage:
‘We have five possible opponents and everyone is hard. People may think Basel is easy but we lost twice against them last year and they beat Liverpool and a few years ago they beat Man United, so I don’t think they are easy. Paris would be good because it is easy for us to travel and the fans to travel, but we can’t decide the draw.'
Mourinho may think PSG has its advantages, but I'd much rather face one of the other potential opponents. Juventus, Basel, Bayer Leverkusen, and Shakhtar are those other four, so there's really nobody outside of PSG that wouldn't be a significant underdog against the Blues.
While Mournho may not have a preference, I'm sure most of you do. With that in mind, we've attached a poll with our five possible opponents, giving you the chance to have your say.
