On Saturday, Jose Mourinho confirmed that Cesc Fabregas played against Liverpool with injury, and that the player was a doubt for Chelsea's next fixture after the break. Today, reports in Spain suggest the Vincente Del Bosque won't have Fabregas report due to a thigh muscle tear.
Here's what AS had to say on the matter:
Cesc has a thigh muscle tear and will be out for three weeks. The midfielder played against Liverpool yesterday despite going into the game with injury niggles. Mourinho not only played him, but kept him on for the entire 95 minutes the game lasted. He then announced the player would not play for Spain.
Clearly, the Spanish press still adores Mourinho. That evil, evil man played the man his employer is paying very handsomely in an important away fixture, when the national team is counting on free participation in just over a week.
In all seriousness, I hope that the injury is nothing too serious, as Fabregas has been playing fairly well thus far this season. With Ramires healthy and Chelsea having several easier fixtures after the break though, I'm sure the club will be able to handle Fabregas conservatively.
