Sturridge to miss Chelsea's clash with Liverpool?

Ever since former Chelsea forward Daniel Sturridge went down to injury, Liverpool have been struggling. The 25-year-old, who suffered a muscle problem on England duty, had generally been expected to make his return at around the same time the Blues travelled up to Anfield, but although he was fit enough to travel with the Reds to Madrid, Brendan Rodgers appears to have ruled him out for the weekend as well.

He's out on the field today with the rehab team. He's moving very well. But he's probably a little bit of time away yet.

It's obviously not out of the question that Rodgers is lying. He has significant history with bending the truth ("defending is easy"), and there's every reason he'd want to throw Chelsea off balance ahead of our match on Saturday. But if he's not, the match suddenly looks rather different. Liverpool still don't have a coherent-looking attacking plan with Sturridge absent, and it's difficult to see from where one might emerge now.

Also it would mean that a former Chelsea player doesn't score against us again. Yes, Frank, I still hurt.
