Further contract news of the youth team variety, and this one's for a player who, before even turning 20 years old, has practically become part of the Cobham furniture already. Jordan Houghton has been with the Blues since before age 8. A dozen years on, he has put pen to paper on his second professional contract, a three-year extension to last summer's nascent pro deal to keep him tied down until the end of the 2016-17 season.
Over the moon to have signed my new contract with @chelseafc . Excited for the next few years! #CFC pic.twitter.com/Ux0xl86bJb

Houghton has seemingly put his injury troubles of a couple seasons ago well behind him, and he's become an integral part of the U21 squad, anchoring the midfield alongside Ruben Loftus-Cheek. As a sign of just how highly the staff think of him, the 19-year-old was even involved in our preseason matches against Wycombe Wanderers and AFC Wimbledon. Houghton, who's also capable a center back, has represented England at multiple age levels and was involved in England U20's triumph at the Four Nations tournament last month (alongside fellow Chelsea youth Fankaty Dabo and John Swift).
Congrats, Jordan!
