Schalke deny interest in Chelsea winger

If you're bored of the André Schürrle transfer rumours, I have bad news for you. We're still more than two months away from the close of the winter transfer window, and if November is anything to go by they're going to come in hot and fast until the German either finds a new club or (as currently seems more likely), January ends with him still at Chelsea.

The talk around him returning to the Bundesliga is now so ubiquitous that clubs are issuing official denials that they're in for him ... well, Schalke are, at least:

We're not considering Andre Schurrle at all. And the same goes for Xherdan Shaqiri and Lukas Podolski.

Apparently Schalke are being linked to virtually every Champions League winger who might be available, which gives us at least a little insight into the quality of the Schürrle rumours. To me it sounds like he's being used as some sort of speculative filler for anyone struggling with width. Need a winger? That André guy at Chelsea might be a fit! Let's write about that!

There might be some teams interested in Schürrle this winter, but right now it's going to be difficult to separate the wheat from the chaff, rumour-wise.
