Todd Kane joins Bristol City on two-month loan

It was a bit surprising when Todd Kane remained with Chelsea instead of heading out on loan to start the 2014/15 season, but on Saturday, that situation was remedied. Kane will spend the next two months with Bristol City, as announced by the club this morning:

City have completed the loan signing of Chelsea defender Todd Kane. The 21-year-old moves to Ashton Gate on a temporary basis until January 18th and goes straight into the squad for Saturday’s M4 derby at Swindon Town (3pm).

Huntingdon-born Kane is eligible to play in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy, while the club will require permission from Chelsea at a later date to field the defender in the FA Cup.

Bristol City currently sit atop League One, so it will be a step back for Kane after two decent loan spells in the Championship. That said, minutes in League One are far better for Kane at present than minutes with the U21 side, and hopefully he'll continue to impress in his latest loan spell.
