On loan midfielder returns to Chelsea ahead of schedule

John Swift's first spell on loan has come to a premature end. The youngster saw very little time on the pitch at Rotherham United, and the club have released the following statement in regard to his departure:

"It was agreed to be in the best interests for all parties that the player could continue his development with his parent club, after the talented midfielder was unable to make a significant impact on the first team whilst with the Millers."

"He signed on the eve of the Millers' final pre-season game, when they faced Doncaster Rovers, but hasn't played since the defeat to Watford back in August."

"We would like to thank John for his efforts whilst on loan with the Millers, and wish him the very best of luck in his career."

Swift will now return to Cobham, where he'll likely work with the U21 side as the club sort out his next move. Hopefully that spell on loan goes better than his time at Rotherham.
