Oscar has been in scintillating form recently, returning back to the highs of the first half of last year with some extraordinary goals and fantastic teamwork, and Chelsea have duly rewarded the 23-year-old with a new contract. Having signed a five-year deal when he moved from Internacional in the summer following our Champions League win, Oscar has now committed himself to the club through 2019, and presumably he'll be getting a hefty pay raise to boot.
I am so happy because I love playing for Chelsea and living in England. I have enjoyed playing here for two years, and now I have five more, so I am very happy.
Although Oscar divides opinion, that's only because being right does as well -- thanks to his versatility and tactical discipline, he's one of the top attacking midfielders in Europe and Jose Mourinho has leaned heavily on the Brazilian during his second spell at Chelsea. That he's extending his deal is a mark of the esteem the two sides have for each other, and it's undisputedly good news for the club and supporters.
Update: More from Oscar...
