Loftus-Cheek added to Chelsea Champions League roster, assigned number 36

Justin Setterfield

Dom Solanke has been added to the Champions League B-list ahead of Tuesday's tie with Maribor, but he won't be the only new addition to the group this week. Midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek will also reportedly be added to the UEFA roster, and will be assigned the number 36 shirt for the Champions League campaign.

This is excellent news for both Loftus-Cheek and the rest of the Chelsea academy, as the group stage is still probably the easiest way for many of the youngsters to get some cameo minutes with the first team. Loftus-Cheek is a massively promising prospect, and getting a run out or two with the first team before going to finishing school on loan would be awfully nice for both the player and Chelsea fans.

For those of that don't remember, Loftus-Cheek has played several friendlies with the senior side, and many fans were able to see him impress in the two post-season matches against Manchester City to summers ago. Hopefully the Blues pile on the goals early tomorrow, as getting several youngsters some minutes at home would be awfully fun.
