Wallace likely to return to Chelsea rather than continue at Inter Milan

This loan spell turned into a disaster, with the Brazilian fullback barely seeing the pitch

Gianluca Di Marzio is reporting that on loan fullback Wallace will be returning to Chelsea in short order, as he's struggled to get any time on the pitch during his current spell on loan. Here's what he had to say on the matter, via a Google translation:

In the coming days Wallace will leave Inter Milan and return to Chelsea. The Brazilian winger has not convinced and in accordance with the Nerazzurri better let him go and do it somewhere else that relegate it to mature on the bench.

Frankly, this loan spell can't be cancelled soon enough. Wallace had his work cut out for him to fit into the Inter system anyway, and barely saw any time on the pitch during the first half of the season.

Where he'll end up is still very much up in the air, but frankly, it's hard to believe we could see worse results than we already have. Wallace doesn't have a work permit, so a move to an English side is not an option. The Blues wanted to send the player to Vitesse at the start of the season, but that makes a bit less sense at this point with Kelvin Leerdam looking fairly impressive.

Chelsea should certainly be able to find a place where Wallace will see regular minutes, and that should really be the priority at this juncture. Quality of competition should be secondary to time on the pitch, as he barely saw any action since his move to Europe.
