The transfer window is set to close on Friday, and Chelsea are still being linked with moves for defenders Luke Shaw and Kurt Zouma. St. Etienne co-president Roland Romeyer had some comments on the Zouma situation today, indicating that the French club are in no rush to get a deal done:
"Some clubs have launched a bid for the player, but we will not change our strategy."
"There have been discussions for Zouma with English, Italian and French clubs, but he will not be leaving this month unless we find an agreement with some of the potential buyers."
"If not, he will have to wait until the summer. We are under no obligation to sell."
I think by now we all realize that Chelsea are one of the English clubs, and that they'd like to get a deal done in January which sees the player remain in France until the end of the 2013/14 season. Whether or not that happens will be determined in the next 48 hours, but even if it doesn't get completed during the January window, I'd be surprised if he doesn't end up at Chelsea relatively soon.
