'No ligament damage' for Lukaku, confirms Everton boss

Stu Forster

We heard a little bit earlier than the prognosis for Romelu Lukaku sounded like he'd be back in three or four weeks (i.e. there was good news); now his club are confirming it:

There is no ligament damage and the injury is not as bad as we first thought. It will be a case of weeks rather than months.

'No ligament damage' is the sort of thing I like to hear when it comes to our players. Having feared the worst when he was taken off at Anfield on Tuesday, this is really positive news. My guess is that he returns to Premier League action for March 1st -- he's ineligible for the last round of Premier League games in February, because Everton are coming to Stamford Bridge -- and that means he'll only be out for three matches.

It's still not idea that Lukaku's missing time, especially when you consider that his form has been very poor recently and that he needs to recover it, but one month is a lot better than missing most of the rest of the season.
