American institution Chevrolet are only set to begin officially sponsoring Manchester United next summer, but that's not preventing them from getting a bit overexcited. So excited in fact, that they produced a bit of a Twitter misfire yesterday:
Someone took a screenshot of the Chevrolet tweet prematurely celebrating the signing of 'striker' Juan Mata pic.twitter.com/GuYsSJL6wO— Nour Agha (@NourAgha) January 23, 2014
Oopsies. Engine misfire!
Or perhaps they're signing a different Juan Mata? One who plays striker, rather than attacking midfield? That could be rather hilarious.
After a few minutes, Chevy FC - again with this inane obsession of putting 'FC' behind anything remotely associated with football? I'm looking at your SiriusXM FC, ESPN FC, et al. - took their tweet down and replaced it with the following tucked-tail one instead:
Our apologies! Got a little eager at the possible new #MUFC member. Let’s stay tuned for official news #TooExcited— Chevrolet FC (@ChevroletFC) January 23, 2014
Yeah, I bet you are. Now excuse while I go slash some Silverado tires.
