Injury update: One in, one out for Manchester United clash

Julian Finney

There's some good news and some bad news ahead of Chelsea's key match against Manchester United on Sunday. We'll start with the bad: Branislav Ivanovic has not yet returned to full training after injuring himself early on against Liverpool last month, and therefore will not be able to play against Danny Welbeck and company this weekend. Ryan Bertrand's recently-announced loan means that we'll be starting with a fullback pair of Ashley Cole on the left and Cesar Azpilicueta on the right.

The good news is that our other casualty from that game, Frank Lampard, has been training with the first team all week and is therefore available for selection come Sunday. Lampard's absence has led to some scrambling to fill in the midfield positions, and his return gives Jose Mourinho another extra option in the centre. Considering how potent Lampard's been when properly rested this season, that can only be a good thing.
