Report: Fresh Chalobah loan imminent

Charlie Crowhurst

Don't take this as a done deal or anything, but Sky Sports are reporting that Nathaniel Chalobah could be loaned to Middlesbrough as soon as this weekend. Nottingham Forest confirmed the termination of the 19-year-old's loan on Wednesday, which means Chelsea are free to send him elsewhere, which they should seeing as how Forest pissed away half a season of his development time.

Obviously Jose Mourinho's relationship with Aitor Karanka comes into play here. Karanka, Mourinho's number two at the Santiago Bernabeu, joined Boro in early November and has already picked up one impressive Chelsea prospect on loan; it makes a lot of sense for Chalobah to join Kenneth Omeruo at the Riverside. That said, this report is based on Sky sources, which for all I know might be the result of reading goat entrails. But Chelsea Youth tweeted that he expects the deal to get done soon, so there's some nice corroboration if you're feeling skeptical.

Hopefully this loan goes better than the last one!
