Juan Mata is back in the good graces of Jose Mourinho, and David Luiz seems to be a regular choice for the Chelsea manager. Controversy at Chelsea sells papers though, so the next player left out of the squad will almost certainly be getting some media attention. Luckily for the Mail, they seem to have found their new player in the Mourinho doghouse:
Kevin de Bruyne has been axed from the Chelsea squad and will not travel to Romania for Tuesday’s Champions League tie against Steaua Bucharest. De Bruyne was not in the match-day squad at Tottenham on Saturday and has been told he will be training with the Under 21 squad for the next three days.
So what do we take from this right now? Personally, not a whole lot. All this is telling me is that Mourinho isn't going to use the Belgian on Tuesday, and the player will be staying in England because of that. There's nothing permanent there, and it just makes sense if he's the sixth choice out of six at the moment.
As we've seen with Juan Mata, being dropped for several matches in favor of other attacking options isn't exactly a lifetime sentence. De Bruyne will have his chances to make an impact with Chelsea's squad going forward, it just sounds as if that chance won't be coming on Tuesday. That doesn't sell though, does it?
