Romelu Lukaku is not upset that he's been loaned to Everton

The player says the decision was his to join Everton for the season, and that he and Mourinho spoke about the matter

The transfer window came and went for Chelsea, and the only first team move of note on deadline day involved Romelu Lukaku. The giant Belgian will be spending the 2013/14 season on loan at Everton, leading the line as they attempt to qualify for European football.

Kristof Terreur spoke with Lukaku about the move, and he had quite a few interesting things to say:

Terreur also mentioned another club that was interested in taking Lukaku, noting interest from La Liga as well:

Personally, I'm glad we kept the player in England as opposed to sending him to Spain. He'll face better quality competition in England more frequently than he would in La Liga, and he'll likely be forced to work on the things his game lacks more often as well.

As long as we didn't damage our relationship with the player, I'm not nearly as fussed with this as I was last night. A year away at Everton will almost certainly have him ready for Chelsea, and hopefully he'll be here banging in the goals next season.
