New Barca boss Gerardo Martino and his team are currently touring Thailand - preseason tours of Asia clearly being en vogue - and it appears that the last thing on his mind right now is any sort of rumored bid for a certain Chelsea defender. In fact, he claims to know "nothing" about anything:
'We are here in Thailand, there is nothing we know about this,' he said in a terse reply to a question on the potential for recruiting the Chelsea man.

While he could be lying and putting down a smoke screen, but what exactly would that accomplish? Stories of Barcelona's interest in David Luiz are not new; an actual bid (if, in fact, there has been one) isn't all that surprising either. It's much more likely that Martino is in fact in dark on this. In the age of Directors of Football that doesn't necessarily rule out a bid, but one would assume that the manager would still be kept in the loop - much like Mourinho has always been current on the Rooney chase.
Not that it really matters, because Chelsea shouldn't and hopefully wouldn't be selling anyway. They may have rejected the bid already anyway, at least according to a story that The Guardian ran in the last couple hours. Unfortunately that article has now been pulled - PANIC BACK ON! - but an Internet record of it still exists thanks to Newsnow, GiveMeSport, and Google Cache.
Meanwhile, Sideshow keeps posting decidedly un-enjoythelife Instagrams like this one. Clearly, this whole ordeal is tearing him apart and making him sad. Chelsea should soothe his troubled soul with a healthy wage rise and some preseason action vs. Roma later this week. Deal? Deal.
