Arsenal's 3000th / Champions League Early Rounds / Chelsea Pre-match Open Thread

Arsenal are observing a major milestone today. We should all be very happy for them, it's not easy to accomplish such a massive triumph ... of futility. Today marks 3000 days without a trophy for Wenger and the boys. Happy Empty Trophy Cabinet Day, to you and yours!

Chelsea have touched down in Miami just a few minutes ago and will soon be making their way to the stadium to contest the ICC final vs. Real Madrid. Ahead of that final, LA Galaxy will play AC Milan for third place - kick off is at 6:30pm EDT. Please don't make the pitch even worse than it already was yesterday!

In further football action, there are also some early-round Champions League matches. I believe these are the last of the "qualifying rounds," with the winners moving on to play in the "play-off round" versus the likes of Arsenal, AC Milan, and Schalke 04. A few decent names have already progressed, such as Zenit St. Petersburg waxing FC North-Jelly-Belly 6-0 on aggregate and Ukraine's second best team Metalist Kharkiv looking to eliminate PAOK who incidentally just signed ex-Chelsea boy and FIFA Ferenc Puskás Award winner Miroslav Stoch. Celtic's in there, too, trying to protect a slim home advantage.

Still in with a chance is our favorite Belgian mess, also known as Zulte Waregem. Having sorted their captaincy, they look to overcome a 0-2 deficit vs. PSV. It's a Benelux derby and Thorgan Hazard is starting and it's live at 2:45pm EDT on LAOLA1.tv.

Discuss.
