Cristian Cuevas loaned to Vitesse Arnhem

The Chilean will spend the next year in the Netherlands, and will likely be joined by Lucas Piazon shortly

Vitesse Arnhem has announced the loan of another Chelsea player this morning, confirming the capture of 18-year old Cristian Cuevas for the 2013/14 season. Cuevas is still waiting on a work permit, but that's likely nothing more than a formality.

Vitesse has strengthened Cristián Cuevas. The 18-year-old midfielder is rented for a season of Chelsea FC. Cuevas is known as a great talent. The left leg can cover the entire left side.

Where Cuevas fits with Vitesse is a little bit unclear, as with Patrick van Aanholt and Gael Kakuta already on loan, the Blues have done a nice job of providing them left-sided options already. Kakuta will likely see plenty of time in a more central role this season, but if the rumors of an impending Lucas Piazon loan are true, the left side might be additionally crowded with Chelsea players.

Hopefully this was a talking point when the clubs were negotiating a loan, as I'd hate to see Cuevas blocked by other Chelsea prospects. It's unlikely that we'll see the Chilean in action for Vitesse's Europa League qualifier tomorrow, as he just won't get the paperwork he needs completed in time for that game. Best of luck in the Netherlands Cristian, we'll be watching.
