Chelsea's senior team aren't the only ones doing some preseason work -- the under-21 and under-18 sides were in action as well this weekend, and both recorded wins on Sunday. The above video, once you get past the rather charming introduction sequence and the 'how not to use scissors' public awareness bulletin, is of the former's 4-1 win against Wealdstone FC.
There's some sloppy play early, but I'd have to say that former West Bromwich Albion property Izzy Brown is the star of the show. He scores twice, gives an assist to Jonathan Swift and generally dominated the defence, giving the young Blues a directness that they were otherwise rather lacking. Alex Kiwomya also adds a neat little strike from outside the box following a corner.
All in all, it was a decent display, even if there's some rust (and it's not like we expect beautiful football from the reserves anyway). Let's hope the youngsters continue their fine form going into the real season. And go watch them, if you have a chance!
