After what feels like months of this deal being close, Inter Milan have confirmed the signing of Wallace on a season-long loan deal. The young right back will be hooking up with master tactician / crazy man (delete as appropriate) Walter Mazzarri, who'll probably be looking to him to provide a Christian Maggio-like presence as a right wingback in Inter's 3-4-3.
Considering Javier Zanetti's age and recent bouts with injury, Wallace should be getting plenty of playing time at the San Siro, so that's a big positive, but I remain unconvinced that the optimum solution to the Wallace question is to have him play in a position where his attacking is much more important than his defending. Hopefully he'll still be able to slot into a back four after Mazzarri's done turning him into a pseudo-midfielder.
No matter what, though, this is a huge opportunity for Wallace. Joining one of Italy's historic teams at his age is a big deal, and hopefully he makes the most of it.
