Chelsea play later today. Before then, we get to watch the conclusion of the Audi Cup as well as partake in random Europa League and preseason club friendly action if we're desperate.
Yesterday's opening match at the Audi Cup was one of the more entertaining halves of football in recent memory, as Manchester City and AC Milan scored eight goals total in 45 minutes. Surprisingly, there were no more goals in the second half and City advanced to today's final with a 5-3 victory. Milan dropped into the third place match against Sao Paulo and their ancient goalkeeper Rogerio Ceni who's famous not only for having played over 1000 matches in 20 years at the same club, but also for scoring lots of goals from free kicks and penalties. Of course he failed to convert against Manuel Neuer because football. The third place match starts at 12:15 P.M. EDT, the final at 2:30 P.M. EDT, on all the ESPNs just like yesterday.
After the conclusion of Chelsea's match, Real Madrid and LA Galaxy will duke it out in another International Champions Cup quarterfinal. I had the time of this one wrong initially, but it looks to be kicking off at 10:30 P.M. EDT actually. So we should be able to watch this one as well, even though it should be an easy one for Carlo Ancelotti and his men (none of whom are yet called Gareth Bale).
There's also Europa League qualifying rounds happening with a boatload of random teams and Swansea City (ITV 4; 19:45 BST), and you may be able to catch a glimpse of Nicolas Anelka as West Brom play Genoa in a warmup match (LAOLA1; 19:30 BST).
Discuss.
