Isaiah Brown officially joins the Chelsea Academy

This isn't really as much of a transfer saga as it's been made out to be. He was always going to join, it's just a matter of setting the fee due to WBA.

By now, most of you have seen, and shared, the photo of Izzy Brown signing his Chelsea Academy papers. Contrary to some reports, Brown hasn't actually signed a Chelsea contract, you see. He's signing the papers to officially join the youth ranks. As a 16-year-old, he's not legally-allowed to discuss, let alone sign a pro deal. That aside, it's nice to see this saga finally over. Well, as much as a saga as it could be. West Brom didn't really have any way of stopping him, so the saga mostly about the compensation, not Brown joining Chelsea.

In case you had any further doubts about his status as a Chelsea player, he's tweeted that he's on his way to New York.

If you didn't know, the U21s are headed to the US on a pre-season tour, and he'd be expected to be a part of that. All in all, it's nice to know he'll get a full pre-season at Chelsea, rather than having it disrupted by a big ol' mess of a transfer thing. I think we all hope he enjoys his trip and his time at Chelsea!
