Chelsea confirm Kalas injury; Hilario still exists

Ulet Ifansasti

Chelsea have confirmed the squad that will be travelling to the United States for the preseason tour, and there are some interesting tidbits in there. First and foremost, Tomas Kalas has had to withdraw due to injury, which will be a big blow for him. He didn't perform particularly well against the Malaysian or Indonesian All-Stars, and a strong USA tour would have helped raise his stock as he prepares for next season.

The other weird bit of news is that Henrique Hilario is still with the squad, something that's been in question for months after his contract apparently expired but without his release being announced. So that's that mystery cleared up, then. Thanks, Chelsea!

Here's the full list...

Goalkeepers: Petr Cech, Mark Schwarzer, Henrique Hilario, Jamal Blackman.

Defenders: Branislav Ivanovic, Ashley Cole, David Luiz, Cesar Azpilicueta, Gary Cahill, John Terry, Ryan Bertrand.

Midfielders: Michael Essien, Ramires, Frank Lampard, John Obi Mikel, Marco van Ginkel

Forwards: Fernando Torres, Juan Mata, Oscar, Victor Moses, Andre Schurrle, Kevin de Bruyne, Eden Hazard, Romelu Lukaku, Demba Ba.

More on the Kalas situation when we get it, of course -- right now we don't know much of anything about what's going on there.
