Like Nathaniel Chalobah, Lucas Piazon had some comments today about where he'd like to end up on loan. Also like Chalobah, if he gets his way it will be much easier to follow him closely than it was last spring when he was in Spain:
''To be fair, I think I am too young to be playing at Chelsea. So I'm fine. It's good for me to be going out on loan."
''Last season I stayed half the season at Chelsea and half at Malaga. It was good for me to play in La Liga and the Champions League."
''In this next season I will try to stay in the Premier League and to do a great season and come back stronger."
''It's important for me to stay in England and get used to the league where Chelsea play. English football is different to the Spanish game."
''I have no idea where I will go. I told everyone I would concentrate on this part of pre-season and I will talk about it when I get back to England."
''But I would like to stay in England. The physical side of it is important for me. The Premier League is strong physically, so it would be good for my future to stay in England."
''It is important to find the right club before the start of the season. When I went to Malaga it was in the middle of the season. The manager knew all the players but he didn't know me well. It was a bit difficult. I would prefer to have time to get to know the team.''
There's reported interest out there from several different clubs, including newly promoted Crystal Palace and Liverpool. I'd personally keep him as far away from Anfield as possible, as beyond the fact that most Chelsea fans dislike the club, Brendan Rodgers doesn't always actually use the players he brings in on loan (Josh McEachran, Nuri Sahin).
Crystal Palace seem like a fine option to me, as Piazon would almost certainly walk into the starting eleven the moment he arrived on loan. I'm sure those two won't be the only clubs with interest though, as Piazon showed enough last season at both Chelsea and Malaga to suggest he's ready for minutes at a Premier League club.
Like Chaloabh, I'd assume we hear news of Piazon's destination shortly after the Asia tour ends. With players like Kevin De Bruyne, Oscar, Juan Mata, and Fernando Torres meeting up with the squad ahead of their American tour, Piazon seems like a prime candidate to lose minutes as the squad begins to fine tune for the season.
