We've been missing Frank Lampard in these last two preseason games as Chelsea's all-time leading goalscorer nurses an Achilles injury, but it sounds like the midfielder could be back in action soon. The official site, reporting on the Blues' first training session in Indonesia, has noted that Lampard took a solo workout while the rest of the club worked on fitness, which is the first time he's trained since the 1-0 win against the Singha All-Stars.
The site also notes that Lampard could be fit to play some part in the friendly on Thursday, although I'd have to imagine that it'd only be a small cameo, like Josh McEachran's run-out in Kuala Lumpur. Chelsea will rightly be worried about keeping one of their key players fit -- while Lampard's undoubtedly working hard to get ready for a full season, he has a recent history of slow recoveries from relatively minor injuries, and the club has to make sure he doesn't start the year nursing a problem.
But we'll trust the doctors on this one. If Lampard plays, he's probably ready. Hopefully he gets a good reception from the Indonesian supporters.
