It's not so long ago that Roberto di Matteo was managing Chelsea Football Club. Like most Blues supporters, I have nothing but admiration for a man who helped us to all those trophies as a player and a manager, and I'm paying reasonably close attention to his exploits since. So when France Football gets an interview with him, you better believe I'm paying attention.
My reward? Sadness:
Did you cry when you were relieved of your duties at Chelsea on November 21, 2012? This is a personal question that I do not want to answer.
That's the most tragic, heartbreaking answer Robbie could have given. No matter what you think of his managerial ability or what came after, it's undeniable that the club could have treated him better. Now I'm imagining Chelsea's first Champions League-winning manager choking back tears after being sacked and just want to give the dude a hug.
Heart you, Robbie.
