Petr Cech wins Czech football award

Some non-Jose Mourinho related news on this crazy, Special day: Petr Cech has been officially recognised by Czech Football Association as the Czech Republic's best player, winning the Golden Ball for the 2012/2013 season. Which is way more impressive before you realise what he was up against, since the runners up, David Lafata and Vladimir Darida, play for Sparta Prague and Viktoria Plzen respectively.

Still, good on Petr for winning this one. His position as Chelsea's number one goalkeeper is under serious threat from Thibaut Courtois, but he remains unflappable and had one of his better seasons this year, pulling off some spectacular saves en route to the Blues' third place finish and Europa League win. There's plenty of life in him yet, and he's not going to vacate his throne without a threat.

In the future, here's hoping that Tomas Kalas makes this award a little more difficult for Cech to clean up. Winning seven out of the last eight awards is just a little too easy...
