Two spots, three teams. Two of the three play today, against markedly easier opposition than Chelsea get to face tomorrow. But thus is our bed, and thus we must lie in it. Will it be lined with feathers or thorns? Let's find out.
Six matches kick off at the traditional 3 P.M. spot. The one that matters is Tottenham Hotspur vs. Southampton. The Saints surprisingly lost at home last week, but before that they had gone six undefeated including three wins. A return to that form as they visit Three Point Lane would suit Chelsea just fine. Unfortunately, Southampton are already seven points clear of relegation and can pretty much coast home safely from here.
Prospects of Arsenal dropping points are also rather dire. They visit already relegated QPR in today's late kickoff, a club where morale is just about at an all-time low. And as usual, Arsenal are once again the most in-form team as the Premier League winds down.
Chelsea do control their own destiny, so if they take care of business on their end, results elsewhere won't matter one bit. But a little bit of help never hurt anybody.
Discuss.
