After Eden Hazard went off in injury time on Saturday with what appeared to be a hamstring injury, it never really looked as though he'd be fit in time for the Europa League final. We'd been hearing rumours that he'd made a miraculous recovery, and he did travel with the squad to Amsterdam (then again, so too did Demba Ba, and he definitely can't play), but now any hope that he'll be available has been quashed by Rafa Benitez:

I'm not surprised. Hamstring injuries are tricky beasts, and when Hazard pulled up it looked as though he was done for the season. Even if the issue isn't particularly serious, it's much better to rest him now and have him heal properly than risk making it worse by playing him on 80 or 90 percent. While the Europa League trophy would be a nice prize to have, Hazard enjoying a healthy summer and preseason is a significantly higher priority than playing him against Benfica.
