The Champions League of Didier Drogba Love / Tuesday Open Thread

Bye-bye Didier. Again.

Laurence Griffiths

As Didier Drogba once again bows out of the Champions League - perhaps just for the year, or maybe for the last time (depending on his pending contract dispute with Shenhua) - let's remember...

Boy, it's a bit dusty in here.

In all actuality, today's matches - and maybe tomorrow's matches, too - in the Champions League are just bureaucratic formalities. Real Madrid hold a 3-0 home leg advantage as they travel to Turkey, while Borussia Dortmund host Malaga after a 0-0 first leg. Sure, anything could happen, but my moneys are on Mourinho & Klopp.

So Drogba may be out but at least Michael Essien moves on. The Artist Formerly Known as the Bison actually has 27 appearances this year for Real. That's more than John Terry has for Chelsea. Essien's appearance totals of the last five years now read: 19, 21, 43, 19, 27. Does this prove that we can rely on him as a squad player next year?

Is there anything more annoying than the super-clicky mechanical keyboards and the people who bang away on them? She's lucky she took her lunch now; homicidal urges were starting to well up.

Discuss.
