Sideshow's 26th, Mikel's 26th, United's 20th, Ferguson's 13th / Monday Open Thread

Happy Birthday David Luiz & Mikel!

Jamie McDonald

So, the weekend? Pretty boring, right? Nothing ever happens!

Just one match in the Premiership today, but it's possibly a clincher. No, not a clencher; Ferguson hasn't had to deal with too many instances of "squeaky bum time" this season. It's a clincher, a 20th title clincher for United, the 13th for Sir Alex Ferguson. Love him or hate him, that's plenty impressive.

A win today versus Aston Villa would give them the title. Wins in the remaining last five matches would give them a new Premier League record for most number of points, beating Chelsea's 95 from 2004-05. Coincidentally enough, Chelsea will have the opportunity to prevent United from breaking this record with a win (or draw) at Old Trafford that will also probably be needed to retain control over our Champions League destiny.

While the red half of Manchester will be celebrating tonight, a couple of Chelsea's own will have their own reasons to pop some champagne as well. Both David Luiz and John Obi Mikel turned 26 years old today. For the former, this feels a bit too sudden (he's almost 30!); for the latter, it feels like he never ages (he's been here forever!). Sideshow World Peace played in his 101st Chelsea match yesterday, while Mikel played his 277th. May they both add hundreds more to those numbers.

Enjoy the life!
