UEFA quarterfinal draw open thread

Chelsea are through to the Europa League quarters, and this morning we find out who we face

Laurence Griffiths

This morning, all of the 16 teams remaining in this season's UEFA competitions will find out who they'll have to face if they want to reach the semifinals. While watching a balding man with a funny accent talk about balls pulled from a crystal bowl doesn't make for the most riveting television possible, many of us will be tuned in anyway, so we've put up a thread for you to discuss the draw as it happens.

First up will be the Champions League draw. Teams can be drawn against anyone remaining in the competition at this point, regardless of group opponents or national associations. The eight teams are as follows:

  • Barcelona
  • Real Madrid
  • Malaga
  • Bayern Munich
  • Borussia Dortmund
  • Juventus
  • Paris St Germain
  • Galatasaray

Following the Champions League draw we will find out Chelsea's next European opponent. The teams involved in the Europa League draw are as follows:

I'm sure we'll see a few interesting matchups between the pair of draws, and honestly, I really don't care all that much whom Chelsea are drawn against at this point. The fixture list is busy, so trips to turkey or Russia wouldn't be ideal. Then again, the shortest trip left may involve the most difficult opponent. Discuss the draw, and we'll have the result of it for you once it's over.
