Josh McEachran will be seeing reduced minutes as Tony Mowbray looks to give him a break

Josh McEachran's form has dipped of late, and it appears that he'll be used less frequently as Tony Mowbray looks to get him back to his best

Josh McEachran had a great start to the 2012/13 season on loan at Middlesbrough, but in recent weeks he has suffered a pretty considerable dip in form. Boro manager Tony Mowbray believes he may be a bit overworked, and had the following to say on the matter:

"Josh has played his part for us this season. He’s a young boy, he has bags of talent but it is still a progression in what is a harsh man’s world."

"I have talked to him about the situation. When he came here he hadn’t played anywhere regularly really, he had never had the schedule of matches he’s had since he came here."

"In the Championship games come around every few days and it’s a big ask for him. He has done fabulously well but there are times when it’s looked like catching up with him."

"I have talked about giving him a physical break and a mental break. In the second half of the season he won’t be a stick-on in the team."

Frankly, I'd have to agree with Mowbray's assessment here. Josh started out very well and grew into the position as the season got going, but of late he's looked tired and his performances haven't been nearly as good. With McEachran having never played a key role in a long season, monitoring his minutes for the remainder of the year is probably best for all parties involved. Hopefully a little more rest gets McEachran back to his best, and hopefully Boro can hang on to finish the season in the promotion playoff spots.
